cozumel snorkeling and scuba diving beach club

Frecuent Asked Questions

1.- Where is Playa Uvas located?

Uvas  is located 8.5 km (6 miles) south of the Ferry Pier/downtown.  Depending  which hotel or cruise pier you are coming from,  the taxi ride is 10 to 15 minutes and the cost would be 10.00 to 12.00 USD for up to 4 passengers.

2.- Do you have to reserve in advance or can just show up?

The reason why we need you to make advance reservations  is because Uvas has a limited customer base, so it is important for us to know how many guests we will have each day, in order to  prepare and be able  to provide each guest with the personalized service they deserve.

Once the reservation is made, we email you the confirmation code, you print it, present it when you arrive at Uvas and pay for your services.

3.- Can you please tell me the hours that you are open?

We are open Monday thru Saturday from 8:00am to 4:00pm Cozumel time, except on days when ships arrive after noon to port, we remain open untill 5pm,  this way all the guests have plenty of time to take tours and services.

4.- Do you  have an extra charge for credit card payments?

No, we don't have any charge for credit card payments.

5.- Do you  offer parasailing at Playa Uvas?

Sorry, but we are unable to have parasailing at Uvas because we are located inside the  Chankanaab Reef Marine National park, and because of environmental protection, loud boats needed for  parasailing are not allowed in the area.

6.- Are there  lockers and beach towels available?

Locker use is $4.00 Dlls + $5.00 Dlls. deposit for the key, Beach Towels rent is $3.00 Dlls + $5.00  deposit for the towel.

As adicional info the measures of the lockers are 80 cm height  X 40 cm wide X 40 cm deep  ( 32" height X 16" wide X 16" deep)

7.- Do you have to wear water shoes when getting into the water?

Not necessarily (except maybe young children and people with sensitive feet).  We have sand bags on the shoreline, so you are able to get into the ocean walking on them and once you are in the water, the sand underneath is quite smooth.

8.- What happens if it rains?

Rain is not a big  problem because our diving or snorkeling tours are not cancelled because of it. And after the activities you can have lunch or wait until the rain stops under the beach umbrellas or at the restaurant.

9.- When it says the packages include admission to the Marine reserve, does that mean Chankanaab Park?

When we say Playa Uvas is "inside the Marine National Park of Chankanaab Reef". That refers to the ocean part of Chankanaab Reef, and not to Chankanaab Park...which is a separate entity about 300 yards down the beach. You'd need to leave Playa Uvas, and pay a separate entry fee to enter Chankanaab Park.

10.- What does marine park fee means?

The ocean part of Playa Uvas is inside the Marine National Park of Chankannab Reef, so every person who goes to on marine activity or tour such as our snorkeling or diving tours, has to pay a US $2.00 fee to Marine park authorities; they use these fees to take care of the marine park reefs of the island - they have biologists, divers, marine park guards, etc. who keep a daily watch on the reefs and marine life to maintain all that growing in a healthy manner.
